The publication of: The Catalog of the Official
Certificates/Cubiertas of Colombia by Steve Phelps.
This publication is a must for the library of any collector of
Colombia, as well as the dealer or
auction house which handles philatelic and related material from
Colombia.
Certificates and Cubiertas of Colombia were widely collected in
the 19th century as
evidenced byinformation in the American Journal of Philately,
Collin & Calman's 1891
Catalog for Advanced Collectors and the extensive offering in
the legendary1893
DeCoppet auction. There is continued interest in this material;
It has been shown in
international award-winning exhibits. Individual items have sold
during the last few years
for several hundred dollars each and covers are rarities.Scott
added a listing of a small
number of types in their Classic Specialized Catalogue of Stamps
and Covers 1840-1940.
Below is a sample listing:
This publication is the most complete
and comprehensive treatment of these postal items ever
compiled. The work has 48 pages with color illustrations and is in
an 8 1/2 x 11" format. In addition to
images and plating details there is rarity information for all
known Official Cubiertas along with cross
referenced catalog numbering and measurement data for key issues.
The new Catalog is available through Copaphil.
